Baoji Huacan's 3mm titanium rod is a high-precision, small-diameter cylindrical bar manufactured from Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V) or other titanium alloys through cold drawing and centerless grinding. Designed for high stress, weight sensitive situations, it provides excellent corrosion resistance, biocompatibility and dimensional stability. The diameter accuracy is maintained to ISO h6/h7 and straightness to 0.5mm/m. This rod is an important feedstock for Swiss-style CNC lathe machining, dental components and aerospace fasteners.

Medical & Dental: Used as feedstock for Kirschner wires, external fixation pins, and dental abutment screws. Grade 23 ELI is required for permanent implants due to its superior fracture toughness and lower oxygen content per ASTM F136.
Aerospace Fastening: Deployed in non-structural rivets, locking pins, and sensor probes where localized weight reduction is critical and parts must endure rapid thermal cycling (-55°C to 150°C).
Precision Welding & Industrial : Used as a straight length TIG welding filler wire in automated welding systems. Grade 2 is very weldable; Grade 5 needs argon shielding to avoid embrittlement.
OUTDOOR & RC MODELS 3mm titanium rod Grade 5 titanium rod worked into ultralight tent stakes and RC model shafts where the need for narrow diameter and good bending resistance.

Production begins with high-purity titanium ingots verified through spectrometer chemical composition analysis. Cold drawing reduces the material to near-final diameter while improving tensile properties.
Centerless grinding then achieves the final 3mm diameter with tight h6/h7 tolerance and Ra < 0.8µm surface finish, removing alpha case (brittle surface layer) formed during heat treatment. This step is critical — standard peeled or polished surfaces cannot meet Swiss lathe requirements.
Each rod undergoes straightness verification, dimensional inspection, and surface checks before packaging. The process complies with ASTM B348 and ASTM F136 depending on grade selection.
Our facility in Baoji — China's Titanium Valley — operates 40+ CNC machines with 1,000+ tons annual capacity and 10+ years of titanium machining experience. We serve 100+ international clients across aerospace, medical, and industrial sectors.

Learn more about titanium grades, custom machining, lead times, and OEM solutions.
Q: What tolerance is standard for the product used in Swiss machining?
A:ISO h6 or h7 with centerless ground finish and chamfered ends are required for reliable bar-feeder performance.
01
Q: What is the difference between Grade 5 and Grade 23?
A:Both are Ti-6Al-4V. Grade 23 has lower oxygen and iron content, making it mandatory for permanent medical implants where fracture toughness is critical.
02
Q: How is straightness maintained during shipping?
A:Rods are packed in rigid PVC tubes. Lengths of 1000mm or 2000mm are recommended to keep straightness within 1mm/m during transit.
03
Q: Is cold bending possible?
A:Grade 1 and 2 rods can be cold bent. Grade 5 has high spring-back and typically requires heat bending.
04
Rods are packed in rigid PVC tubes to maintain straightness during transit, then placed in vacuum-sealed bags with desiccants and wooden crates for bulk orders. Air freight and sea freight options are available. Full labeling and traceability documentation included.

You can specify diameter tolerance (h6, h7, or h8), length, material grade, surface treatment, and end condition. Custom logos via laser marking or CNC engraving are available. OEM/ODM production based on customer drawings is fully supported — from prototypes to mass production.
